Welcome to what’s on in Brisbane in April! We’ve got lots of cool things on in the city this month. For starters, there are plenty of free events, such as cinema sessions throughout the city, fitness programs, family bike rides, and the monthly free music day in Roma Street Parklands. There’s also the International Cake Show in town, the Brisbane Comedy Festival, and a sunflower festival, amongst loads of other things.

- What – an outdoor experience with a headphone sound option and a licensed snack bar. You can bring your own food but not alcohol, which must be purchased at the bar.

Mudunama Kundana Wandaraba Jarribirri Judy Watson
- What – artist Judy Watson showcases 130 pieces of her art which include print, sculpture and video, ‘channeling the stories of her family’s Waanyi Country in north-west Queensland’.

Felons Cinema Sessions
- What – free, family-friendly movies on at Felons! Snacks and beer can be delivered directly to your seat.

Rail Through Time – A Kids’ Adventure
- What – school holiday fun at the Queensland Rail Workshops on ‘transport, communication, jobs and fashion’, which is tailored to the under 13 crowd.

Feel Good Program
- What – a range of free fitness classes in South Bank. Check out the programs here for more info.

- What – Easter-themed mini golf featuring a jumping castle and special easter bunny guest appearance.

The Dark Side of the Moon Planetarium Experience
- What – a celebration of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album, which turned 50 this March. The event includes the album’s music accompanied by jaw-dropping planetary visuals and virtual technology.

Hologram Zoo
- What – a family-friendly zoo featuring animals made out of holographic projections from laser light. Here animals tower alongside you and ‘fly off the wall and all around you’!

Beauty and the Beast: The Musical Pre-Theatre Dining at Bacchus
- What – Beauty and the Beast pre-show-themed dinner menu, featuring three courses and a dessert sculpted into a rose which looks like the real deal. $89 per person.

Brisbane Cycling Festival
- What – a free pop-up festival at the Brisbane Showgrounds for bicycle riders/lovers of all ages.

Indigo Isuta Soirée: A High Tea Affair
- What – here ‘Easter gets a spin’ off Japan, with this Japanese high-tea menu that includes delights such as yuzu custard bunny teacups, matcha macarons, green tea yuzu tiramisu and a chili chocolate-infused umeshu cocktail.

- What – a family-friendly festival fostering ‘vibrancy, imagination and adventure’. The event is pet and alcohol-free.

Pups and Pints
- What – Yeerongpilly’ Slipstream Brewing Company has joined forces with Haven Animal Rescue Inc. for a dog-friendly event, of course, and true to its name, it features pints of beer, along with charcuterie boards.

David Walliams’ RATBURGER
- What – a play based on the novel by David Walliams aimed at children. Approximate run time is 60 minutes.

Hopelessly Devoted: A Celebration of Olivia Newton-John
- What – hosted by ‘internationally acclaimed drag star, Courtney Act, the event is a tribute to Oliva Newton-John featuring the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and guests such as David Campbell, Jess Hitchcock, Georgina Hopson and Christie Whelan Browne, who will perform alongside the orchestra.
