What’s on in Brisbane in June, 2024 – 30+ Great Ideas!

Welcome to what’s on in Brisbane in June, 2024! It’s that time already, and to kick off the first month of winter there are loads of activities on offer. For starters, there’s a world food and music festival, a Thai festival, the Brisbane Illustration Fair and Brisbane Record Fair in town. There’s also World Gin Day, a yoga festival and Brisbane’s hosting an ‘urban wine walk’ in the city, among many other activities.

What – a multisensory, interactive museum combining media, technology and play in one place. Find out more here.

Samford and Surrounds Arts Trail & Open Studios

What – forty six community artwork members are opening the doors to their studios to showcase their work. Artists range from photographers, sculptors, jewellers and visual and mixed media artists.

When – first four weekends in June, from 10am – 4pm.

Anywhere Festival

What – a month-long program featuring signature racing motorsports events. The event includes family fun and ‘high-tech drifts’.

June 1 – 8, 2024 – What’s on in Brisbane in June

Flamenco House Live!

What – ‘transport yourself to Spain with this magical, passionate and vibrant show’, featuring virtuoso guitarist Camaron de la Vega and talented percussionist Rodrigo Santiago. There’ll be castanets, claps, hand fans and fierce footwork!

Scratch Bar Life Drawing Sessions

It’s Still a Secret

What – vintage and vinyl market

What – a ‘music-charged celebration’ where you listen if your song comes up and mark it on your bingo card to win prizes. Features food and drink at Newstead Social.

World Food & Music Festival

What – pretty much what the title says! Featuring live cooking shows, Shaolin Kung Fu, Bollywood dancing, a Brazilian parade, Greek plate smashing, roller skating, multicultural cuisine, kids’ activities and arcade games. Wowsers!

When – June 8, 5pm – 10pm.

June 8 – 15, 2024 – What’s on in Brisbane in June

Fermented Food Festival

What – a festival featuring market stalls, fermented cuisine samples, expert presentations and guest speakers. Attendees will learn about the amazing health benefits microorganisms play in our well-being.

When – June 8.

World Gin Day 2024!

What – a celebration at one of one Brisbane’s best gin havens – Covent Garden. Here there are over 700 gins varieties on offer, and the event will include cocktails and gin mixer, along with DJs to keep you going well into the night. There are also ‘free-flowing canapes from 6-8pm.

When – June 8, 4pm – 12pm.

Brisbane Illustration Fair

What – a showcase of Brisbane’s artists that includes an artisan market, meet & greet and more.

Brisbane Record Fair

What – free festival of music including ‘a cornucopia of musical flavours to feed your musical diet for the rest of your life’. Includes DJs, music and food.

Candlelight: A Tribute to Beatles on Strings

What – music to the Beatles on strings under the gentle ambience of candlelight.

When – June 8, 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

Cryptic Creations Show

What – art show featuring taxidermy/entomology, handmade jewellery, art, crystals, live music and more creations by local artists.

BrisScience – What are Asteroids Made of?

What – UQ’s professor Trevor Ireland explores the geochemistry of asteroids in this free event. Professor Ireland will view the origins of the solar system, for the curious and lovers of science.

When – June 10, 6:30pm.

Where – the State Library of QLD.

Rooted in Rhythm, Amplified by Soul

What – experience ‘amplified rhythms of change and harmonies of hope’ during an evening with IHIVA and Mayan Fox. It’s been classified as ‘exotic pop meets zesty reggae’.

June 15 – 22, 2024 – What’s on in Brisbane in June

Raining Forest

What – Monte Lupo Arts Exhibition – a ‘whimsical homage to the lush ecosystem of the rainforest’. The exhibition focuses on ‘garden dwellers’. The event features cakes from Monte Lupo Café.

Foodies Paradise – International Street Food

What – international food and live music featuring dancing, live music and market stalls.

What – a pet market of biblical proportions, featuring food and vendor stalls, live music, charities and activities. The event supports local businesses and all things pet-related!

Thai Festival

What – calling all Thaiophiles! Discover the Thai culture through traditional dance, Thai language classes, and a Thai Street food market.

What – a couple of cool bands supported by local Brissie act Smoke and King Kongo.

What – a two-day ‘heavy horse spectacular’. Featuring Clydesdale horses, of course, which boasts ‘the largest purse prize in the Southern Hemisphere’. The event also features Scottish pipes & drum bands.

Seasonal Fruit Festival – Winter Edition!

What – a music event, featuring international line-ups such as Bonny Doon and Tirzah.

What – a market of course! Featuring fresh baked bread (gluten-free included), pastries, baked goodies, chutney, relishes, second-hand clothes, jewellery and body products.

Northey Street City Farm Winter Solstice Festival

What – a celebration of Earth’s natural cycles steeped in multicultural tradition. Featuring permaculture talks, gardening workshops, panel discussions, artworks, live music, a bonfire, a solstice ceremony and Northey Street’s annual lantern parade.

When – June 22nd, 2pm – 10pm.

Where – Northey Street City Farm, 16 Victoria Street, Windsor, QLD.

What – a huge not-for-profit community festival featuring yoga asanas, mantra meditation and sound baths, meditation and mindfulness sessions, wellness and wisdom workshops, kirtan and mantra music sessions, pop-up vegan and vegetarian café stalls and more!

The Broadway Jam

What – featuring some of musical theatre’s greatest hits, performed by eight Brisbane-based artists.

Waru – Journey of the Small Turtle

What – a contemporary saltwater island children story inspired by ‘the totemic system of the green turtle’. It’s an interactive, immersive introduction to Torres Strait Island culture.

Urban Wine Walk

What – a lineup of venues in the CBD are opening their doors while hosting a winemaker for you to visit. This is a self-guided, choose-your-own adventure-style walk!

What – a market, featuring live music, art, barrel-aged beer and creative workshops!
